fave things about growing up chubby:
- feeling like the ‘unattractive’ friend
- being called the ‘wingman’
- acting as a personal shopper for your smaller sized friends
- not being able to fit into any of the popular clothing brands
- “oh shut up, you aren’t even plus size!!”
- “you have a really cute face though!!”
- trying to wear baggy clothes so they don’t cling to your body
- “nice rolls”
- earthquake and tsunami jokes
- gym class. everything about gym class
- developing a bad posture from trying to appear smaller than you are
- not getting asked to school dances, or even to dance once you’re there
- needing a special uniform/costume in dance/team sports
- not wanting to eat in front of anyone
- having what is a serious eating disorder turned into a joke
- being compared to elephants/whales
- little to no positive media representation
- low self confidence, depression, and anxiety
- “concerned” looks/comments from family members
- having people assume you don’t care about yourself/body
- hoarding snacks to eat in secret
- being stared at when you go into particular stores
- buying mens clothing because the sizes are more generous
- crying in the change room
- having doctors assume every problem in your life is due to your weight
- “so are you trying to lose weight?”
- “are you sure you want to eat that?”
- “just try eating less!!”
- avoiding looking in the mirror
- never letting anyone take your picture
