How come Ryan Reynolds can go around pretty much pretending he’s Deadpool all the time and Marvel come out with the movie and no one makes fun of it, and thinks it’s great but Jared Leto does some crazy stuff to try and get in character for a role he’s super excited about and having fun and it becomes a meme and he’s trying to be “edgy”?
Because Ryan Reynolds didn’t send his co-stars used condoms and dead animals.
Also Ryan Reynolds isn’t claiming to be edgy because he’s becoming ‘mentally ill’ due to the character he plays, thus exasperating negative stereotypes about mental illness as something dangerous and ‘twisted’
Because Ryan Reyolds isn’t a total dickhead.
Because Ryan Reynolds isn’t changing how he’s acting, isn’t harassing people, isn’t giving a worse name to mental illness, and most importantly, isn’t a giant asshat
And in case that wasn’t enough: because Ryan Reynolds actually knows what his character acts like.
ryan reynolds isnt widely known for sexually victimizing his underage fans, or for taking roles as trans women in film
Not to mention that clips of Ryan-Reynolds-as-Deadpool tend to involve other people (although not necessarily their characters) being in on the joke.
