every single frame of this is gold

And then you remember that this shot is Legolas watching his best friend, or one of his best friends, being crushed by a troll, and you can pinpoint the moment he works out he won’t be able to reach Aragorn in time. The moment he realizes there’s virtually nothing he can do. Aragorn’s all on his own here. This is the moment Legolas thinks he’s going to have to watch another of his friends die, because he was too slow, because he couldn’t get there in time, because there was too much distance between them, because there was nothing he could do. The last time he had that lost look in his eyes was when he thought Aragorn had died after falling off the cliff.

*whispering* You remember that elves can die from heartbreak, and the only reason Legolas remains in Middle-earth after the War of the Ring is so he can spend more time with Aragorn, and be there when Aragorn dies.

*thumbs up* Excuse me while I go cry. Thank.

WOW CAN YOU NOT

Oh, and guys? Remember in the ORIGINAL cut of this before they changed the shot in CGI, Aragorn was not fighting a troll, he was fighting Sauron in physical form.

CAN YOU NOT

antivanrogue:

zevran, who hoped for death at the end of the warden’s blade

zevran, who slept with one eye open for weeks after being spared, expecting the crows to come after him as much as he expected the warden to sneak into his tent and kill him as he slept — after all, he would do the same thing, would he not?

zevran, who slowly began to find a place in this group of ill-matched wanderers trying to save the world

zevran, who found himself opening up to the warden in a way he hadn’t since… well. in a way he hadn’t in the longest of times

zevran, who did not even have to think before standing with the warden when taliesen finally came for him

zevran, who fell in love, who loved with all his heart and all his body because it felt right, it felt safe, it felt like he could not love the warden any other way

zevran, who finally found a reason to live

and zevran, who watched his warden charge at the archdemon and who knew that this was how it had to be, and who in that moment hoped for death once again, if only to stay by his warden’s side.
